Mr. Casente concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate law, tax-exempt organizations, and research endeavors involving government and tax-exempt organizations.

Prior to joining Rodriguez, Horii, Choi & Cafferata LLP, Mr. Casente was Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer, and Secretary for the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), a major scientific research and development tax exempt organization conducting collaborative and government research into energy and climate challenges. Prior to EPRI, Mr. Casente practiced in law firms (both in litigation and Corporate/IP roles) and in-house at Silicon Valley private and public companies.

Sal has presented at EPRI conferences, including hosting the 2019 Electrification Northeast Symposium, has spoken at attorney and tax professional meetings on topics such as reducing carbon emissions, and has lectured to university/law school classes and attorney groups on climate and energy-related topics, ethics, and how executives can best work with attorneys.

Research and Development Collaborative Efforts

Supporting research, development, and deployment projects among tax exempts, government organizations and for-profit enterprises. Handlining intellectual property issues in collaborative projects.

Corporate Governance Issues

Advising boards on issues such as conflicts of interest, contractual and other operational issues, and compliance with statutory and internal policy requirements. Drafting and updating articles, bylaws, and corporate policies.
